TheChlamydia psittacigroup is one of the most prevalent strains ofDoxycyclineinfections, caused by the bacteriumChlamydia trachomatis. This organism infects and usually kills the infected cells by causing bacterial cell death.
In clinical settings, chlamydia usually develops within 2–4 weeks after the start of oral or vaginal administration. It can occur in children, pregnant women, immunocompromised patients, and young children.
infection is associated with an increased risk of secondary infections, such as gonorrhea, chlamydial infection, or pelvic inflammatory disease. It can also lead to a relapse of the infection in individuals who do not respond to conventional treatments. Therefore, effective treatment options to prevent the recurrence of chlamydial infection should be considered in the management of chlamydial infections.
The presence ofis associated with an increased risk of relapse or reinfection. Therefore, appropriate management of chlamydia is crucial.infection and treatment with the anti-tuberculosis drug doxycycline are effective treatment options for patients with chlamydia infection.
The use of topical and oral medications is of particular importance for the management of chlamydia infection. The efficacy of these treatments has been evaluated in many studies, as well as in previous studies. One study compared the efficacy of topical and oral doxycycline in the treatment of chlamydia. However, it was not reported that topical treatments are more effective than oral treatments in the treatment of chlamydial infections.
In the present study, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of topical and oral doxycycline treatment in the treatment of chlamydia infection.
The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane database were searched for articles published between January, 2015, and June, 2017. The search terms included chlamydia, doxycycline, antibiotics, and publications related to the use of doxycycline. The full-text literature was screened for additional publications. No additional articles were found that were excluded. All references were assessed using the following inclusion criteria: English language articles, full-text articles, and reviews.
Studies were included if they met the following inclusion criteria: (1) the research design was published in English language; (2) patients with chlamydia infection were included; (3) outcomes were reported, including duration of chlamydia infection, cure rates, duration of treatment, cure rates, and cure rates; (4) the intervention was reported in a published article; (5) they were included in the review; (6) they were included in the systematic review.
Two independent reviewers screened titles and abstracts for full-text articles. The first reviewer performed a systematic review and selected studies. The second reviewer assessed the full-text of the included studies and conducted a manual search of the relevant databases. The search terms included doxycycline, antibiotics, and articles. The full-text of the included studies was searched for additional publications. The titles and abstracts of the included studies were also assessed for quality. A manual review of the studies was carried out if the studies met the inclusion criteria, or if they were unclear.
Two authors independently assessed the quality of the studies using the following criteria: (1) the studies were of high quality; (2) the study designs were high; (3) the sample size was small; (4) the intervention was published in a systematic review; and (5) they were included in the systematic review.
The risk of bias assessment was based on the Cochrane Collaboration Handbook for Systematic Reviews ofadiology (CHINA). The risk of bias for any study was assessed by the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews ofadiology, using the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews ofadiology.
The systematic review included all the studies published between January 1, 2015, and June 30, 2017. The studies were evaluated according to the inclusion criteria. The studies included studies on chlamydia infection, doxycycline, or topical antibiotic treatment.
